This version is supposed to work whether you have Java 1.4.2 or Java 1.5, and we advise using it. If you want, open this web page (by clicking the link) in your browser and choose another version of DrJava to download. Windows Appi Mac OS X App Current Eclipse Plug-in The current version of the DrJava Plug-in for Eclipse is drjava-eclipse-20090115-r4708, which is very old.
Mac users should download the DrJava jar file, open the Security and Privacy panel in the System Preferences app, and check the box stating that they want to open the DrJava jar file, even though is was produced a developer unknown to (unregistered with) Apple. Then the Jar file can be run using either the Oracle Java 8 or Amazon Corretto Java 8. My temporary solution: download JRE (or JDK) 7 as a tar.gz, and DrJave as a jar. Unzip the JRE/JDK, and just run the jar with the v7 java. I'm sure they'll get it sorted eventually, but meanwhile.

DrJava requires a Java 2 v1.4 or later virtual machine. (Note: The JDK, not the JRE, must be installed to have access to compilation in the app.) If you need to download a JVM, we recommend Sun's JDK 5.0 for Solaris, Linux and Windows. Other users should use the Java virtual machine that comes with their operating system (including macOS).
Also, DrJava for macOS uses two Java Virtual Machines (one for the main program, and one for the Interactions Pane) that use Java's Remote Method Invocation (RMI) to communicate with each other. RMI uses TCP/IP as the default transport mechanism, so you must have those drivers installed. Without TCP/IP, Dr Java will not start properly.
